Description
Summary:The construction industry is the dominant controller of the national economy in the whole world. But the reality is this industry is renowned with its cost and time override, poor productivity, low safety, tacky equality, and bad work conditions that leads to failure of projects and results in unacceptable images of construction. Based on that, this study is conducted to develop a framework by which the construction industry performance can be enhanced, and successful projects can be delivered with the contentment of users through investigating, identifying, and distinguishing the failure causes of construction projects in Iraq. A questionnaire survey is utilized to get responses from 213 participants in the city of Najaf, chosen by developing an online survey. Target respondents comprised clients, contractors, consultants, engineers, and project managers who have enough experience in the field of projects construction and management. Outputs of the conducted study showed that bureaucracy and corruption is rated as the most critical causing factor for projects failure in Iraq. The second high failure factor is the political interference, while both factors of poor expectations management and poor planning and scheduling are sorted as the third critical factor.
