Structure and Properties of Laminated ZrB2/Ti and ZrB2/Al Composites with Nonrigid Interfaces under Dynamic Impact

The paper reports the results of investigation of the impact response of ZrB 2 /Ti and ZrB 2 /Al ceramic-metal composites with non-rigidly fixed layers. It is shown that, as the energy dissipates from layer to layer, the dispersion of the structure of metal foils and ceramic plates increases. The fr...

Description
Summary:The paper reports the results of investigation of the impact response of ZrB 2 /Ti and ZrB 2 /Al ceramic-metal composites with non-rigidly fixed layers. It is shown that, as the energy dissipates from layer to layer, the dispersion of the structure of metal foils and ceramic plates increases. The fracture toughness of the ZrB 2 /Ti composites exceeds that of the ZrB 2 /Al composites, while the fracture toughness of the latter is close to that of the monolithic ceramics.
