The aim of this research is to investigate the strategies of piano playing applied in online class of piano proficiency course. This study used the qualitative research method and lecturers were interviewed by semi-structured interviews for collecting data at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Perak, Malaysia. Furthermore, it applied content analysis method and the thematic analysis method to analyze the collected data. The findings of this study indicated that lecturers should provide the variety of teaching platforms and develop the pluralistic teaching tools for online classes. The significance of this study is to improve the online model of piano proficiency courses in music education program.
