Summary:Benzimidazoles, one of the nitrogen heterocycles, possess pharmaceutical and biological potential. This heterocycle has been known for pharmacological activities such as antifungal, antibacterial, and antiparasitic. The reports on the activities of the compounds containing this basic moiety are well-reported in the literature, specifically as anthelmintic and proton pump inhibitors. This review covers the synthesis of benzimidazole analogs by feasible methods from our laboratory. Also, the present review explores the recent reports on benzimidazole analogs designed as antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, and antiviral agents.
