Summary: | In this paper the method of experimental studies of strength of solid deciduous species wood (birch, alder, ash) with different moisture content under axial compression along the fibers was developed. Experimental studies of such materials were carried out under strict test conditions. The main mechanical characteristics of solid wood of deciduous species at moisture content of 30%, 21%, and 12% were determined from this experiments. Complete "σ-u" deformation diagrams from the beginning of deformation to the complete destruction of the material were constructed. Analysis of the diagrams revealed that mechanical properties will improve significantly after drying the wood. |
