FTIR spectroscopic analysis of zinc cobalt phosphate glass matrix

Zinc cobalt doped Phosphate glasses with a chemical composition 45P 2 O 5 –4Co 3 O 4 – (11 +  x ) Na 2 O–(40 −  x ) ZnO where ( x  = 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mol%) were prepared by the conventional melt-quenching technique. These glasses were characterized using Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR). FTIR s...

Description
Summary:Zinc cobalt doped Phosphate glasses with a chemical composition 45P 2 O 5 –4Co 3 O 4 – (11 +  x ) Na 2 O–(40 −  x ) ZnO where ( x  = 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mol%) were prepared by the conventional melt-quenching technique. These glasses were characterized using Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR). FTIR spectra reveal the formation of P–O–P and P–O–Zn bonds in these glasses and indicate that P 2 O 5 behaves as a network former and is incorporated in the network as Po 4  units. The densities of these glasses were measured by Archimedes method. The values of densities range from 3.258 to 3.44 gm/cm 3 and those of molar volume range from 34.509 to 34.429 cm −3 .
