Summary: | This paper is a review on the Adhesive joints, its applications, preparation, types of failures, joints configuration and many other experiments performed in the past, using adhesives will be discussed. Data is collected from all the previous research papers, books and other resources to update the new approaches on adhesive joints. Adhesive bonding is the permanent joining technique, where adhesive is applied in between the two materials to form a bond. Adhesives are widely used in many areas like aerospace structures, transportation, electronic components, furniture, footwear and many other things which we use in our daily life. Single lap joints (SLJ) and double lap joints(DLJ) are most commonly used. Behavior of adhesives can be affected by external factors such as temperature, curing, joint geometry and other will decrease the strength of the adhesive if proper care is not taken. To overcome the environmental effects such as moisture content, temperature, dust particles on the joint bonding a detail study will be performed, to update new methodologies which are discovered in the recent times. Nano particles are also widely used with adhesives which helps the composite to get more resistance to fight with failure factors. Performance of adhesives with and without nanoparticles, selection of adhesives, selection of Nano particles will be also covered in this paper which helps to perform future experiments easily with a reference. |
