Description
Summary:The thermal power plant is a setup that generates electricity by tapping into the potential of steam at high temperatures and pressures. Thermal power plants’ operational parameters, such as steam amount, quality, pressure, and temperature, are designed based on energy demand. Each component in a thermal power plant contributes significantly to the power plant’s overall performance. The condenser is used in power plants to keep the pressure below atmospheric pressure. Surface condensers are most commonly employed above the jet condenser in power plants to change the phase of the working fluid and maintain the lower pressure. The temperature gradient model is well suited for performing numerous iterative calculations required while building and optimizing a new condenser system due to its simplicity and strong ability to clarify most of the condenser’s design variables. The performance of the surface condensers is critical to the plant’s overall performance since it keeps the pressure low and supplies saturated water to the boiler. As a result, the researchers have demonstrated a keen interest in improving the design and operation of surface condensers and have contributed to the field’s literature. The current work is a critical examination of the development and design alterations that occur in the power plant’s surface condenser. This work will look at the research that has been done on the development and performance of surface condensers to optimize the design of surface condensers based on numerous design and performance characteristics.
