Summary: | AC current ripple analysis of multilevel converters is of vital importance for modulation optimization, filter design, and inductor core loss evaluation. In this letter, the ripple analysis based on the projection of ripple trajectory in two-level modulation unit (2L-MU) is originally proposed, which avoids complicated circuit model analysis. The peak-to-peak and rms values of the ac current ripple in 2L-MU are presented in detail. Using the recursive level reduction, ripple distribution of higher level converters is transferred into 2L-MU. The correctness of the proposed ripple analysis approach is verified by experiment. |
