Summary:A polemic is given regarding the apparent molar volumes used in examining the molecular interactions between the dissolved tetraalkylammonium iodide, R 4 NI, salts and organic solvents. The apparent molar volumes of the four R 4 NI salts dissolved in N,N -dimethylformamide, taken from the authors’ earlier studies, were found to vary significantly from one study to another.
