Summary: | Pistachio shells (PS) were used with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin for the purpose of manufacturing structural sections for various applications. The manual molding method was adopted to prepare and cast the chosen samples for mechanical tests with weight fractions (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30) of (PS) particles and with a size of (45 µm). The mechanical tests that carried out (tensile, bending, shock resistance), and all of them were done at the laboratory temperature (27°C).
The results showed that there is an improvement in the mechanical properties with an increase in the weight fractions of (PS) particles. By depending on the results, we can exploit PS waste to get benefit in various industries and reduce the environmental pollution arising from (PS) instead of burning or land filling. |
