Description
Summary:A series of sulfosuccinate esters of cyclic alcohols was synthesized and we studied their effect on the kinetics of methane hydrate formation in high-pressure autoclaves. The effects of the structure of these compounds on foaming, induction time, and water-to-hydrate conversion were considered in comparison with sodium dodecyl sulfate. The preparation of these compounds was presented in detail. An increase in size of the cyclic fragment from C 5 to C 7 leads to some increase in the rates of nucleation and growth of the methane hydrate, while going to an eight-membered carbon ring leads to a decrease in the promotion effect. The effect of the synthesized compounds on the increase in rate of gas hydrates is comparable to the effect for sodium dodecyl sulfate. At the same time, the proposed reagents possess better performance characteristics (do not contribute to foaming).
