Removal of Reactive Red 198 dye from aqueous media using Boehmite/Fe3O4/GO magnetic nanoparticles as a novel & effective adsorbent

This study aims to investigate the Reactive Red 198 (RR198) dye removal from an aqueous media by Boehmite/Fe 3 O 4 /Graphene Oxide (GO) magnetic nano-adsorbent. To this end, the structures of the synthesised materials were fully studied using SEM, FTIR, BET, XRD, TGA analyzes. Then, the effect of as...

description This study aims to investigate the Reactive Red 198 (RR198) dye removal from an aqueous media by Boehmite/Fe 3 O 4 /Graphene Oxide (GO) magnetic nano-adsorbent. To this end, the structures of the synthesised materials were fully studied using SEM, FTIR, BET, XRD, TGA analyzes. Then, the effect of assorted variables like contact time, adsorbent dosage, pH, and temperature on the elimination of RR198 by the nano-adsorbent was investigated. According to the results, the highest removal efficiency was 98.9% at pH: 3, adsorbent dosage 2 g/l, contact time, 20 min, and temperature 40°C in the initial dye concentration of 100 mg/l. Furthermore, studying the adsorption process equilibrium and kinetic behaviours indicated that the adsorption process pursues the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the PSO kinetic model, with the maximum RR198 dye sorption capacity being 107.5 mg/g using the Langmuir equation.
