Summary:A method is proposed for reducing the influence of manufacturing error on the load capacity of a planetary cycloid gear: specifically, the one-piece (steel or plastic) pinion is replaced by a pinion with a plastic core and a steel wrapper. A formula is presented for assessing the load factor, taking the influence of manufacturing precision on the load capacity into account. A method is outlined for assessing the contact rigidity of the pinion with a steel wrapper and the torsional rigidity of the gear. Calculations show that the permissible torque on the gear cage with a two-piece pinion is more than triple that for a system with a one-piece pinion. However, the torsional rigidity of the system may be significantly decreased.
