Summary:The key results of research in the field of development of methods and approaches to the production of cyclic acetals based on petrochemical products are reviewed. The use of 1,3-dioxacyclanes in the synthesis of the series of practically important compounds, including biologically active ones, is briefly mentioned. The application of 1,3-dioxacycloalkanes in the synthesis of polyfunctional heterocyclic compounds are particularly considered.
