Description
Summary:Humanity has achieved a remarkable progress in terms of transportation and technological advancements. Invention of a wheel was the very first step in the progress and has progressed into many complicated mechanisms and applications. This research includes Modelling and Analysis of rocker bogie integrated with suspension system which uses the rocker-bogie mechanism, in SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS. The aim of the mechanism is to provide comfort and relieve stresses to the chassis of the main body, and to wander in various terrains, such as rocky terrain which has very hard and uneven surfaces where a traditional 4-wheeler might fail to, soft terrain which also has uneven surfaces but also is prone to deformation such as snow and mild water terrain where the large tires can prevent the main body from letting the main body contacting the water body. This mechanism is an inspiration from the NASA’s space rover (Curiosity) and remodeling it in this work. This mechanism consists of six wheels where all of them are powered by individual motors in which two wheels are connected to the rocker arm and the other four to the bogie which is connected to the rocker arm. A linkage suspension integrated with Coil is deployed to the bogie connecting to the main body to dampen the shocks and vibrations on the main body.
