Summary:The low current and wideband characteristics of photovoltaic (PV) DC arc make it difficult for traditional protection devices to detect it effectively. Therefore, it is important to analyze the wide-band dynamic characteristics of PV DC arc and extract the fault features. In this paper, firstly, the fault simulation of the engineering PV DC arc with a compound arc model is performed in PSACD. Then the simulation of various interference conditions and the fault conditions are carried out. Taking the output current of the combiner box as the object, the randomness of the signal is described by the pulse factor, and the characteristics of arc fault are reflected from the time domain. Then the fault characteristic frequency band is obtained based on the band energy ratio and information entropy ratio and the characteristic of arc fault is reflected by the energy and information entropy. The results show that the proposed broadband dynamic characteristic analysis method can effectively reflect the DC arc fault.
