]phenazine. The synthesized copper(II) complexes demonstrate intramolecular ligand-to-ligand charge transfer responsible for their intense violet color. The electronic structure of the synthesized chromophores was studied by electronic spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and quantum-chemical calculations.
