Summary: | Gran explores in a comparative manner how discrimination is built into the international framework of children's rights and examines the consequences of these problems for children in vulnerable situations, people whom human rights are supposed to protect. From its inception, the international framework of children's rights was understood as inclusive, a framework through which young people are supposed to be able to call on their governments to implement rights. Nevertheless, a closer look reveals that age discrimination is built into the framework. After reviewing the international framework, he investigates problems young people face when engaging the framework, then presents a potential mechanism that vulnerable children can employ to exercise their rights. |
