Summary: | This research focuses on determining stresses in the knee-ankle-foot-orthosis as a consequence of the effect of vibration throughout the gait cycle for a patient wearing a knee-ankle-foot-orthosis and comparing it with the value of stresses after changing the material selection in the band from aluminum to polypropylene. The experimental part involved measuring the interface pressure between the orthosis and the leg. In addition, an accelerometer is used to measure the acceleration that results from the motion of the defective limb. Results show the maximum stress value with aluminum orthosis at bar contact with Gracilis muscle is reduced by a present 38.92%, where the stresses values in orthosis with polypropylene band are lower than orthosis with the aluminum band. |
