Summary: | This paper presents the results of a simple and novel optically transparent UltraWideband (UWB) antenna consisting of a coplanar waveguide fed circular ring-shaped monopole that is constructed on a transparent conductive Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) film. The proposed antenna exhibits an impedance bandwidth of 163% between 2 to 20 GHz, which exceeds Federal Communication Commission’s UWB frequency range, with a return-loss performance more than 10 dB. The antenna radiates omni-directionally in the H-plane and bidirectionally in the E-plane. The measured results confirm the antenna is a feasible proposition for integration with various ultra-wideband applications requiring transparent aesthetics. Details of the antenna design, simulation and measurement results are presented. |
