Description
Summary:From study of the Madrid Codex, iconographie, ethnohistoric, biological, and agronomic information is integrated to describe various aspects of the culture and, therefore, of the social life of Postclassic Maya. The indigenous system of itinerant agriculture is analysed; the representation of corn and milpa, of agricultural tools, of the cultivation cycle, and of the characters, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic, which participate in the process, are explained. The economic and cultural aspects of agriculture studied allow us to understand man's relations with nature in the Mayan worldview.
