Use of a spectral analysis method to measure the optical parameters of dental materials used in esthetics and restorations

Application of spectral analysis for measuring the optical parameters of new and promising dental materials used in esthetics and restorations is considered. Modern spectrometers have high measurement accuracy, are small in size and easy to operate, and fully meet the requirements for analysis in va...

description Application of spectral analysis for measuring the optical parameters of new and promising dental materials used in esthetics and restorations is considered. Modern spectrometers have high measurement accuracy, are small in size and easy to operate, and fully meet the requirements for analysis in various fields of science and technology, so the study of dental materials with these devices is relevant and has potential. This article defines research objectives and identifies tasks, study objects, and measurement methods. An external view of the u‑Violet DB spectrophotometer is presented, along with the optical scheme of the device. Spectral relationships between the absorption coefficient  K (λ) and the radiation wavelength of study specimens were obtained. The spectral curves of materials studied here were found to have identical distributions, though Omnichroma Blocker had the greatest absorption in the wavelength range λ = 250–360 nm.
