Description
Summary:We present here the results of studies of a photocatalytic method for hydrolysis of urea in model solutions of treated dialysate. This work used a photocatalytic flow cell with a working range of 340-390 nm. The experiments showed that use of photocatalytic titanium metal plates alloyed with impurity atoms Ti x Ca y O z , Ti x Ce y O z , and Ti x Zn y O z led to removal of urea from dialysate by 1.7, 1.9, and 2.3 mM in 5 h respectively. Photocatalytic titanium plates were found to hydrolyze easily decomposing compounds in model solution without significantly altering its ionic composition.
