Description
Summary:In this research work, we have presented the optical and spectroscopic properties of SBN glass samples doped with different concentrations of Nd 2 O 3 . The optical absorption measurements (UV–Vis-NIR) performed for glass samples show lower values of optical band gap with the increase in Nd 3+ dopants. These results were supported by the Urbach energy calculations and metallization criterion of the prepared samples. Absorption and emission cross sections with the estimated possible spectral optical gain for different concentrations of Nd 3+ at 1.0 mol%, 2.0 mol%, 3.0 mol%, and 4.0 mol% for two wavelengths at 885 nm and 1650 nm are calculated. Emissions in the UV range at 308 nm and a blue at 467 nm under up-conversion pumping at a wavelength of 869 nm via 3 photon processes are also presented. In addition, excitation at a wavelength of 355 nm and the corresponding emissions at 640 nm and 765 nm are addressed.
