Summary: | MVC-related injuries also often result in physical, psychological, and cognitive symptoms that have profound effects on quality of life and emotional functioning. Physical injuries, psychological disorders, and neurocognitive disorders are associated with significant changes in quality of life and ultimately lead to impairments and disabilities. Beck and Hickling (2018), two experienced researchers in the MVC field, provide an article that integrates findings from the MVC research literature and clinical practice guidelines for the assessment and treatment of MVC survivors experiencing comorbid pain and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), two conditions that co-occur with considerable regularity following MVCs. [...]Duckworth and Iezzi (2018) end this issue with a selective review of the MVC empirical literature evaluating the relations of physical, psychological, and cognitive predictors to impairment and disability among persons with MVC-related WAD, TBI, polytrauma, chronic pain, and PTSD. |
