Description
Summary:One of the most efficient ways to get rid of increasing amounts of municipal wastes in the world is to recycle it. Since it contains large amounts of alkalis such as Ca, Al, P, Fe besides to Si ions. They can be used in the glass industry by adding cheap materials such as cullet or borax. Some of the important characteristics of the prepared glass such as its chemical durability either in acidic or alkaline solutions, optical properties, density, microhardness and its surface morphology were examined. The prepared samples were exposed to different irradiation doses of UV in order to reexamine their properties to find out their effects which imitate the sun light effect. The results showed that the prepared glasses have good properties, which enabled them to be used as windows or as a building front faces or in decoration purposes.
