Description
Summary:This article outlines recommendations on the diagnosis of cognitive impairment in the elderly. The algorithm for the diagnosis of cognitive impairments comprises four stages (clinico-psychopathological, express psychodiagnostic and clinico-psychodiagnostic, and instrumental) and can be used to identify elderly patients with prenosological forms of cognitive impairment and to implement primary and secondary prophylactic measures. The diagnosed phases (mild, moderate, severe) of cognitive impairment in elderly patients allow clinicians to recommend further measures of medical and rehabilitation care. General practitioners will also find these recommendations useful for their work.
