Description
Summary:International relations as a practice and as a discipline of knowledge remains parochial to accurately explain, describe, and predict the behavior of African states in the international system. The production of knowledge in the context of relations of power has led to a skewed analysis of Africa‘s contribution to the global political economy. However, the end of colonialism in the early 1950s marked an important era in transformative efforts to incorporate African political thoughts in International Relations (IR) theory and to challenge European models and paradigms. Concepts such as Africanisation, Pan-Africanism, post-colonialism, and decolonization have become buzzwords to describe the study of African politics. This paper seeks to contribute to the broader discussions around the topic of Africa‘s existence in international relations with a particular focus on the contribution of key African literary figures who have made significant contributions to the understanding of the global political economy of the 21st century.
