Summary: | The majority of Manado’s homes have galvanized corrugated zinc roofs, which have a considerable effect on the thermal performance of the room. The purpose of this study is to determine the thermal performance of homes in Manado, with a special emphasis on the heat stress experienced by occupants as a result of roof structure. The study’s participants were drawn from housing estates in Griya Paniki Indah (GPI), Taman Mapanget Raya (Tamara), and Kharisma Koka (K.K.). Almost every home in the three residential zones studied had galvanized zinc roofs and had a minimalist architectural style. The critical issue is that owing to the volumetric attic space and roof ventilation, the roof cannot be constructed. All responders said that they felt uneasy or overheated throughout the daylight tonight. Residents’ efforts to adjust the climatic conditions in their rooms throughout the day, whether via the use of air conditioning, fans, or by opening windows and ventilation, are expressions of these circumstances. On the other hand, the developer’s ignorance of the benefits of attic ventilation, the developer’s pursuit of practicality in construction and affordable house prices per unit, and the developer’s failure to make a full effort to create a comfortable home for existing communities all contribute to this problem. |
