Summary: | The problem of the accumulation of waste around the world has received a lot of attention. One of these wastes is discarded bead wires resulting from the tire manufacturing process due to damages occurring during this process. This study presents an investigation of the flexural behavior of RC layered beams (2 and 3 layers) reinforced with discarded steel fibers (DSFs) resulting from tire manufacturing. DSFs were added to concrete in three different volume fractions of 0%, 0.25 %, and 0.5 %, and having dimensions of (40mm length×0.92 mm diameter). Four RC beams were tested under four points loading until failure. The results showed that the addition of DSF led to increased first crack load, ultimate load, and ductility. |
