Summary:The process of separation and purification of Gd in the neodymium concentrate as a result of monazite sand processing is carried out by precipitation and extraction. The aim of the study was to separate Gd in the Nd concentrate. The feed used is Nd concentrate from monazite sand processing. The Nd concentrate was dissolved in nitric acid and precipitated with dilute ammonia at pH 7.16; 7.18; 7.20; 7.22 and 7.24, then extracted using D2EHPA solvent and n-hexane as diluent. The variables studied were the pH of the feed solution (pH 1, 2, 3, 4) and the solvent concentrations 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% D2EHPA in n-hexane. The best extraction conditions for the separation of Gd are the feed solution pH 4 and the solvent concentration of 50% D2EHPA.
