Summary: | Critically reviewed in the present paper is the principle of operation of a model family of eight-speed automatic transmissions manufactured by the company Aisin Warner. A comprehensive kinematic analysis of the gearbox design was conducted, along with a close examination of potential defects that may arise during operation. The underlying causes of these defects were identified and discussed in detail. Explored, further in the paper, is the functionality of solenoids in the valve body and outlined, additionally, are the methods for determining their serviceability. Probable defects expected to occur during operation are categorized into three groups. While some of these defects can be registered with a suitable electronic tester, not all of them can, indeed, be identified through this means. |
