Description
Summary:It is proposed that the strength of the box wagon body and the safety of the freight transported can be improved by introducing sandwich panels as body components. This solution was substantiated by means of mathematical modelling of the transverse load of the box wagon body. It was found that the use of sandwich panels could reduce the dynamic loads acting on the wagon body by 4.3% compared to those acting on the box wagon body of a typical design. The strength calculation of the box wagon body with sandwich panel walls was carried out. It was found that the stresses occurring in its design did not exceed the permissible ones and were 6.5% lower. The acceleration distribution fields were determined by computer modelling of the dynamic load. The maximum accelerations occurred in the box wagon frame. The difference between the acceleration values obtained by mathematical and computer modelling was 6.6%. A modal analysis of the box wagon body with sandwich panel walls was also carried out. The results of the research can serve as the basis for the development of recommendations for designing modern box wagon structures with improved technical and operational characteristics.
