description | The riverside settlements in Palembang are large wetland areas in the upstream and downstream parts of the river. In the river influence phase, the people who live in the wetlands depend heavily on the Musi River for their livelihood. Entering the land influence phase, several points of riverside land are no longer flowing with water and gradually become a dry land typology. Currently, there are two types of settlements along the Musi River, namely wetland and dry land along the river. This study aimed to determine the concept of cultural adaptation of the community in the typology of wetland and dry land. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study strategy. It is based on the assumption that it does not separate society from nature, which in this case is a river. Data was collected through literature study, observation, and interviews. The case study analysis covers the physical aspects of architecture, cultural aspects, and riverside community activities. The results showed that the concept of adaptation of river communities to wetlands and drylands was to build stilt dwellings, keep water flowing, and move parts of the wetlands to the river outflow curve. |
