Description
Summary:This paper aims to propose a remanufacturing strategy for repairing defects successfully on either flat or round surfaces of an engraved part. Pre-deposition machining strategy proposed a proper removal region into an engraved profile to ensure accessibility of laser beam and to prepare the surface for proper deposition. Deposition strategy using a proper hatch distance was suggested, investigated, and discussed for restoration of the removed engraved profile. The proposed remanufacturing strategy was applied to remanufacture a keyway on shaft. Selection of removal region was discussed from the viewpoint of volume of material removed. Finally, the integrity of the deposited region was observed and discussed to ensure the characteristics and functionality of original part is properly restored.
