Summary: | After underwent gold leaching, the process of gold extraction from of aurocyanide (Au2CN)− solution is required. Current methods in gold extraction revealed some drawbacks including slow in adsorption and pollution effects. The ionicliquids, quaternary ammonium salt (A336) acts as an extractant/carrier integrated into the polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) had been applied to extract2 the gold from (AuCN)− solution with better efficiency and “green” extraction. 50 wt% of poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexa-fluoropropylene) (PVDF-co-HFP) with different concentration of A336 were being fabricated using dry method of membrane preparation. The experiment took place in H-cell diffusion devices in order to determine the membrane effectiveness on gold extraction and the concentration of gold extracted was being measured using ICP-OES instruments. Results show the highest of gold concentration being extracted was revealed by M5 with highest concentration of A336 (50 wt%) due to the increment of available active site. Kinetic study had performed in this study by applying pseudo-first order (PFO) and pseudo-second order (PSO) model derived from Largergren equation. The result show that this experiment mechanism was best fitted with PSO model indicating that it is a chemisorption process. Further increment on A336 composition effecting towards the membrane preparation as the peeling off the membrane from glass plate was complicated. Hence, 50 wt% of A336 composition shows the best performance of the membrane for gold extraction. |
