Description
Summary:The governments have to ensure a sufficient supply of electricity every time, which guarantees energy security. Besides, sustainability is a prominent issue in energy network planning. Therefore, incorporating energy security in sustainable energy planning is vital. Some mathematical models for sustainable energy planning problems are developed in the literature so far; however, the contributions in this paper are novel approaches to model social equity and balancing job opportunities in the society beside the maximizing energy security. A mathematical programming method is applied in the form of bi-objective optimization model. The data of a real case study are then used to illustrate the applicability and performance of the proposed model. A set of Pareto optimal solutions is obtained to show the trade-off between the security and the energy cost objectives. The results also show that energy security and social indicators during time periods can be enhanced by applying the proposed model.
