Engine test of biodiesel fuel from castor oil and diesel fuel: Comparison study
This research includes testing biodiesel samples (B10[10% of Biodiesel and 90% of Diesel],B20[20%of Biodiesel and 80%of Diesel],B30[30% of Biodiesel and 70% of Diesel],B40[40% of Biodiesel and 60% of Diesel]&B50[50% of Biodiesel and 50% of Diesel]) in a four-stroke single-cylinder Diesel Engine...

Summary: | This research includes testing biodiesel samples (B10[10% of Biodiesel and 90% of Diesel],B20[20%of Biodiesel and 80%of Diesel],B30[30% of Biodiesel and 70% of Diesel],B40[40% of Biodiesel and 60% of Diesel]&B50[50% of Biodiesel and 50% of Diesel]) in a four-stroke single-cylinder Diesel Engine and comparing the engine’s performance with fossil diesel fuel(B0[100% of Diesel Fuel]). When using biodiesel samples (B10, B20, B30, B40, B50), it was concluded that it consumes more fuel than fossil fuels B0. Found that B50 has a higher fuel consumption mass rate than all samples. At the same time, (B0) has a lower mass fuel consumption rate compared with all samples. Also, it produced that the BFSC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) of B50 is higher than all samples while B0 has the minimum BSFC compared to all samples. Brake Thermal efficiency Percentage decrease by using Biodiesel especially for B50. Add modifications to Diesel engine in case of using (B30 and above). As it was observed that white smoke comes out of the engine exhaust when using these samples (B30, B40, and B50). This white smoke indicates that the diesel engine suffers from a delay in fuel injection timing to the combustion chamber. As well as we found out (B20) did not require any modification to the Diesel engine, so B20 is the best choice to use in the Diesel engine. |
