Summary: | Biodiesel as renewable alternative fuel has gained interest by researchers to minimize the dependency on fossil fuel and reduce the pollutant emissions. It is biodegradable, environment-friendly and can be blended with diesel to be used in a diesel engine. The focus of this experimental analysis is to investigate the properties, performance, and emission of biodiesel (B7) from the different petrol station in Malaysia. It is denoted as fuel A, B, C, D and E. The performance of these fuels and their emissions were assessed in a constant engine speeds 2400 rpm and 0%, 25%, 50% and 75% of the engine loads. The results revealed that the brake power and the torque of biodiesel B were higher for all engine loads tested compared to pure diesel. Moreover, the brake specific fuel consumption of all test fuel was slightly decreased, especially at 75% engine load due to the more energy content available in biodiesel than pure diesel. The outcomes of this study are expected to serve the basis for researchers on which appropriate biodiesel that can be used to conduct the research. |
