Summary: | In solution, protactinium(V) can exist as a mono‐oxo PaO3+ cation or a Pa5+, a unique feature along the actinide series. The relative stability of these two species has been explored by relativistic correlated quantum chemical methods. The equilibrium graphic highlights that ligands positioned to the right enhance the formation of a Pa mono‐oxo triple bond in the aqueous phase. In contrast, those on the left destabilize this bond making the Pa5+ more stable. More information can be found in the Research Article by V. Vallet and co‐workers (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202304068).
