Summary: | The official position dianshuguo in the Western Han was inherited from shubang of the Qin Dynasty, both of which were central officials responsible for receiving the descendants from ethnic groups. In the Western Han, Qin's shubang was renamed as shuguo first, and then it was renamed as dianshuguo in the reign of Emperor Jing. Under the rule of Emperor Wu, shuguo in the prefectures of Jun and its leader shuguo-duwei were created to accommodate and administer the increasing ethnic descendants. After that, dianshuguo coexisted with shuguo in Jun, but there was no administrative affiliation between them. As shuguo gradually became the main approach to receiving ethnic descendants, the role of dianshuguo diminished, which led to its merger during the rule of Emperor Cheng. After merged, the independent establishment of dianshuguo was cancelled, but its original functions were inherited by dahonglu. |
