Description
Summary:Aims and Objectives: The objective of this study was two-fold: first, to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of undergraduate medical students regarding pharmacovigilance (PV) and ADR reporting and second, to examine the effects of an educational intervention on these aspects among medical students at a tertiary care teaching hospital in rural Haryana. The primary focus of PV is to identify and report previously unknown and serious adverse drug events (ADEs) resulting from the medicine itself or due to its inappropriate use or due to medication errors/21 In 2010, the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) was established by the central drug standard control organization (CDSCO) with the aim of protecting the health of the Indian people by ensuring that marketed medicines are safe and effective/31 PV is crucial to safely, logically, and economically use medications. Currently, their lack of sufficient training limits their involvement in ADR reporting. [...]it is crucial to educate and make medical students aware of the importance of monitoring ADRs since they will be future health-care professionals. The completed questionnaire forms from the total of 91 students who gave consent to participate in our study were included in the analysis (response rate of 91%) of whom 73 (80.2%) were male.
