Description
Summary:The intensity of atmospheric bands of molecular oxygen I v ' v " , cm −2 s −1 , in the nightglow of the Earth’s atmosphere is calculated for different seasons at the middle latitudes and in the region of the Equator and the Tropic of Cancer, allowing for experimental data on the profiles of concentrations of atomic oxygen at different latitudes. The calculated integral intensities of the glow of atmospheric bands are compared to experimental data obtained from the Space Shuttle and the Keck I telescope. Good agreement is found between results from theoretical calculations and experimental data, but the best agreement was obtained using data from the Keck I telescope.
