Description
Summary:This research evaluated the effects of agricultural policies in the central-eastern part of Puebla, Mexico, as well as producers' perceptions of their implementation and results. A questionnaire was administered to 95 corn producers and the policy analysis matrix was applied. According to the results obtained, a deficit was found in the production cost/sales income ratio. The private cost ratio and the ratio of internal resources showed that corn is efficient and not profitable and that, with production incentives, this product could be competitive. For its part, the perception analysis showed that the prices of sales and public policies do not promote competitiveness. In this sense, a truly efficient policy must focus on improving sales prices.
