Summary: | The understanding of a rapid mixing and mixing length of two substances is of great importance for the design of a subsonic combustor of a ramjet engine due to a very short residence time of the reactive flow. To investigate this problem, the complex shape of a combustion chamber is simplified as a two-dimensional coaxial gas-gas flow. The characteristics of a two-species compressible mixing layer is studied using an in-house solver together with a mass fraction model to represent differences in the density and viscosity of each gas. The results show that the mixing length increases with increased density and viscosity ratios. |
