Description
Summary:A singularity at the piezoelectric-brass bonded joint (the bonded edge between piezo ceramic, PZT-5H, and brass) under shear load conditions is investigated. In this case, poling is taken perpendicular to the interface. An analytical model consists of three real singularity terms at the vertex and on the side surface. The orders of singularity and the intensity factors of all three singularity terms are examined to investigate the effect of the singularities on both mechanical and electrical behaviors. To determine the correlation between the vertex singularity (the singularity at the tip) and the side surface singularity, the intensity factors at the vertex and at several positions on the side surface are obtained using the conservative area integral. Results are that the singularities for the shear load conditions differ from the tensile load conditions. This finding may be used to assist in the design of piezoelectric devices.
