Summary: | Supercritical fluid extraction is a successful technique in the field of extraction of different bioactive compounds at the mild temperature conditions. This technique is frequently used for the extraction of plant extracts. In the review, supercritical fluid extraction is investigated from different aspects in regards to extraction from plants, including differences with classical and modern extraction methods, antioxidant and antibacterial strength of extracts obtained by supercritical fluids, representing the effectiveness of the extraction system, and various parameters affecting the extraction yield such as temperature, pressure, time, fluid flow rate, modifier, and sample size. Also, a number of studies concerning the modeling and optimizing of supercritical fluid extraction of plant extracts is also discussed. |
