Summary: | This letter proposes a dual-band dual-polarization decoupling metasurface using a stacked mushroom structure with asymmetric via posts. The dual-band operation of the metasurface is accomplished by using two strips with different lengths and by vertical and horizontal spacing between the two strips. By placing via posts to the leading edges of each strip, the metasurface converts surface waves into radiation sources independent of antenna polarization. This results in surface wave suppression and gain improvement in dual-polarized antennas. For verification, dual-polarized S - and X -band antennas and the metasurface are fabricated and measured. The measured results show maximum isolation improvement by 23.2 dB in the S -band and 27.1 dB in the X -band and bore-sight gain enhancement by more than 1.69 dB in both bands when using the metasurface. |
