Front Cover: Structure–Based Site–Directed Mutagenesis of Hydroxynitrile Lyase from Cyanogenic Millipede, Oxidus gracilis for Hydrocyanation and Henry Reactions (ChemBioChem 11/2024)
A new hydroxynitrile lyase (HNL) was discovered in the cyanogenic millipede Oxidus gracilis. In their article, Siriporn Chaikaew, Yasuhisa Asano, and co‐workers solve the X‐ray crystal structure and reveal that it belongs to lipocalin superfamily. Based on the structure, the activity and stereoselec...

Summary: | A new hydroxynitrile lyase (HNL) was discovered in the cyanogenic millipede Oxidus gracilis. In their article, Siriporn Chaikaew, Yasuhisa Asano, and co‐workers solve the X‐ray crystal structure and reveal that it belongs to lipocalin superfamily. Based on the structure, the activity and stereoselectivity of the wild type HNL were improved to increase the catalytic activity and enantioselectivity on asymmetric hydrocyanation and Henry reactions.
